A Strange Bird

A Strange Bird

On the one hand, Lara is a real home-bird. She loves nothing more than sitting on the sofa with a good log fire, a book and her dogs, Bruce and Dig Dag. She is close to her family and lives opposite her mum and a few miles away from her sister and nieces.

On the other hand, she suffers from an insatiable need to keep moving and reinventing herself. As settled as she is, she has never settled down. 'Album For Ex Lovers' is a visual and musical collection of some of the stories of her loves and lives in different places, but told from the starting point of her piano and her fireplace.

I frequently
ask myself
these questions

Why, oh why, do I dwell in the rainy North, where the skies do weep and summers lie long in idle sleep?

What is the most productive use of an utterly sleepless night?

Should I have done it differently? (The cooking, the tax return, that breakup scene, the angry email, the 3am WhatsApp… insert noun of choice.)

What’s my biggest regret that I wouldn’t actually change?

Can that wait till tomorrow? (‘That’ being anything from laundry to life decisions.)
